Hi, I'm Yaaqub Kamarulzaman

About Me

I’m a Junior at Brown University pursuing a Sc.B. in Applied Math–Computer Science. I’m driven by a curiosity for how systems work whether that’s in code, markets, or people. I enjoy building things that are both smart and useful, and I’m especially interested in solving problems at the intersection of technology and finance.

Over the years, I’ve explored quantitative research, data engineering, and full-stack development. I love taking on messy, complex problems and finding structure through thoughtful design and sharp math.

When I’m not knee-deep in code or data, I’m usually deep-diving into random Wikipedia holes or rewatching my favorite rom-coms for the fifteenth time (you can see the proof on my Letterboxd) or on the Rugby field playing some touch. And to power through it all, I’m probably sipping on a cup of teh tarik.
